If you want to teach German in a Georgia public school, you'll need to pass the GACE German Test. Here are the basics you need to know about it. The first thing is that the name is somewhat misleading, as there are actually two exams that make up the GACE German Test.
The first exam is mainly geared toward speaking and interpreting spoken German, while the second one focuses on writing and reading German. Otherwise, their formats are identical: each exam consists of 50 selected-response (multiple-choice) questions and two additional questions requiring a written response. Seventy percent of the total score is based on the multiple-choice sections, with the written answers making up the remainder. On the test scale of 100 to 300, the test taker must achieve at least a 220 in order to be certified.
