Are you planning to take the GACE Professional Pedagogy Test in the not-too-distant future? If so, here are the basic facts you'll want to know about this all-important certification test used by the state of Georgia. First, it's actually two different tests, not one. However, both tests must be taken on the same day, one immediately following the other, with a time limit of four hours for completion.
The first exam covers the learning environment and student development and learning. Topics covered on the second test are professional roles and responsibilities, and instruction and assessment. Although differing in content, the tests share a similar format. Each one includes two questions demanding a written answer (which count for 20 percent of the total score) and 60 multiple-choice questions (for 80 percent of the score). The test taker must score 220 or higher on a scale of 100 to 300 in order to qualify for certification.
